I try to keep a supply of soymilk in my fridge so my roommate and I don't drink or cook with milk. |
This past week, I was surprisingly on track with my attempts at eco-chic lifestyle change. Despite all the mouth-watering dairy-laden Thanksgiving food, I was able to stick to my SMART guidelines.
Just a reminder of my SMART Goal: I will eat/drink no more than 1 serving of dairy (2 oz cheese, 1 cup milk, 1 yogurt, etc) twice a week.
Considering that I was surrounded by dairy all weekend long, I'm feeling pretty proud of myself. I did have some difficulty resisting the urge to eat cheese (as usual) but I solved this by asking my friends and family to help me out. I learned that it's really helpful to have a few people looking out for me and supporting my efforts.
I really want to keep up with the progress I've made this week, so I searched for some tips on eating dairy free. eHow.com had some pretty good info which I I think will be helpful these next couple of weeks.
Wish me luck!
I think most people with SMART goals that dealt with food knew the holidays would be hard. That is awesome you stuck to your SMART goal over Thanksgiving since dairy products are every where and in most dishes. It is very true that when you have people who are helping you out it makes things much easier. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your SMART goal over Thanksgiving Break. I think we all struggled being home for the holidays but it seems like you really stuck to your goal. I noticed that you are going to drink soy milk. I personally LOVE the Vanilla Silk soy milk. It adds more of a taste rather than just the original kind. What do you think of the chocolate?
ReplyDeleteEmily, great job on staying with your SMART goal over Thanksgiving break despite the possible temptations. It's great that your family and friends are helping you out with your goal and I'm sure it makes a difference in some way, shape, or form. It's also cool that you did some research and found some ways to keep on track without slipping up. Nice post and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteEmily, congrats on sticking to your goal even through Thanksgiving! Not going to lie, the cheese tray is one of my favorite places to hang around during the holidays! By the way, have you tried almond milk? It's dairy free and DELICIOUS! I personally go for the vanilla flavor and put it in smoothies, but it's pretty rich and creamy if you're looking for something dairy-like! Good luck this next week!
ReplyDeleteGood job Emily! I found that telling other people about your goals can be really helpful. They can encourage you and also keep you honest. Cheese is a tough one to let go of but i'm proud of you for sticking with it!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you were able to stick to your goal over Thanksgiving! I have never tried Silk before but I heard its not half bad. Great job and good luck in the last few weeks!
